OTD February 8th - Black History Month

#OTD in 1986 Debi Thomas, a pre-med student at Stanford University, was the first Black woman to win the Women's Singles of the U.S. National Figure Skating competition.

She was also the first Black athlete to win a medal in the Winter Olympics in 1988 when she took the bronze.
